Guidelines for Authors

I. STRUCTURE AND CONTENT OF THE ARTICLE

The requirements for the structure and content of the article comply with the Recommendations of the European Association of Science Editors (EASE) for authors and translators of scientific articles in English (APA 7th Ed. style https://www.grafiati.com/uk/info/apa-7/) and the provisions of the National Standard of Ukraine DSTU 7152:2020. Publications. Design of publications in journals and collections.

Elements of the Article Formatting:

  1. UDC Index.
  2. Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
  3. JEL Classification Code (for economic sciences).
  4. Information about the author(s).
  5. Title of the article.
  6. Abstract.
  7. Keywords.
  8. Main text of the article.
  9. Information about the authors' contributions.
  10. Acknowledgments, funding sources.
  11. List of references.
  12. Dates of submission to the journal, review, and approval for publication.
  13. Translation of information about the author(s), article title, abstract, and keywords.

  1. UDC INDEX. The UDC index is placed in the upper left corner of the page.
  2. DIGITAL OBJECT IDENTIFIER (DOI). The DOI is placed on a separate line below the UDC index.
  3. JEL CLASSIFICATION CODE (for economic sciences). The Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) thematic classification is a globally recognized coding system for identifying the topics of economic publications. The code for an article can be determined using the classifier available on the website of the American Economic Association. Authors can also make use of the translated version of the classifier in Ukrainian.
  4. AUTHOR INFORMATION. The order of authors must be determined prior to submitting the manuscript (see "Authorship and Co-authorship" in the editorial policy). Any changes made after the manuscript submission must be approved by all authors. The author information must include the following elements:
  • First name, last name;
  • Academic degree, academic title;
  • Unique research author identifier ORCID ID;
  • Corporate email address of the author(s);
  • Main place of work or study at the time of the research (name of the institution or organization), city, country.

Authors should indicate their affiliation with a specific institution as presented on its official website. In correspondence with the journal's editorial team, please use the official corporate email. Abbreviations for academic degrees, titles, and positions in both Ukrainian and English should be provided according to Table 1.

  1. TITLE OF THE ARTICLE. The title of the article must be unambiguous, understandable to specialists in other fields, informative, and specific: 5–9 words that correspond to the content of the article, without phrases such as "A study of the issue...", "Some issues...", "Problems...", etc. For original research articles, it is advisable to add a descriptor of the research to the title, for example, "cross-sectional study," "practical study," "survey results" (see more detailed requirements for the title in the EANR (European Association of Scientific Editors) guidelines for authors and translators of scientific articles in English).
  2. ABSTRACT

The abstract should reflect the content of the article, as it will serve as the primary source of information about the research for most readers (many databases contain only the title and the abstract).

The abstract of an original research article should be structured and informative, containing the following sections:

  • Background (Prerequisites, relevance, and purpose of the research)
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Сonclusions

See the example of annotation formatting in Appendix 1 and the requirements for annotations in the Guidelines of the EASE (European Association of Science Editors) and in Allan Gaw's textbook "Writing an Effective Abstract" (extended abstract). The abstract of a review article can be unstructured and indicative, highlighting the main points of the review. The length of the abstract must be at least 1800 characters and no more than 2500 characters (including spaces).

NOTE: Authors should submit two versions of the article: with author information (file Authors.Title of the article) and without author information (file For review.Title of the article). This is necessary for double-blind peer review.

  1. KEYWORDS: for original research articles — 4–8 keywords; for review articles – 3–6 keywords. Keywords should not repeat the title of the article.
  2. MAIN TEXT OF THE ARTICLE: The length of the main text: Original research articles should be between 3000 and 8000 words (up to 50000 characters), while review articles should be between 2000 and 5000 words (30000 characters). Article Structure: Original research articles must be prepared using the IMRAD structure and include the following key elements:
  • Background (background, relevance, aim, research objectives).
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Discussion and conclusions.

Detailed requirements for each of the specified structural elements of the article are provided in the Guidelines of the EASE (European Association of Science Editors) for authors and translators of scientific papers.

The review article should also be prepared using the IMRAD structure without a "Methods" section.

Illustrations, Tables. All figures (diagrams, charts, graphs, etc.) and tables should be numbered with Arabic numerals and placed directly in the text where they are contextually relevant (not at the end of the document). Figures should have explanatory captions (below the figure, in a separate paragraph), while tables should have thematic titles (above the table, in a separate paragraph). Captions and titles should reflect the content of the images and tables, being concise and informative. Each figure or table must be referenced in the main text of the article by its ordinal number, for example: (table 1), (fig. 1).

conditions of the second kind.

Figure 2. Integral curves of the equation.

If the article is accepted, the authors should upload separate files for all high-resolution figures in .tif or .jpg formats. The file names for the graphics should be clear and correspond to the labels in the text (e.g., Fig. 1, Fig. 2). The resolution of the images should be: 1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale, and 300 dpi for color images.

  1. INFORMATION ON AUTHOR CONTRIBUTIONS (do not specify if author 1). Authors should provide information about their contributions to the preparation of the article according to CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy):

- Conceptualization. Ideas; formulation or evolution of overarching research goals and aims.

- Formal Analysis. Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal methods to analyze or synthesize empirical data.

- Software. Programming, software development; designing computer programs; implementation of computer code and supporting algorithms; testing code components.

- Methodology. Development or design of methodology; creation of models.

- Data Validation. Verification of the reproducibility of results/experiments and other research outcomes.

- Writing (Original Draft). Writing the initial draft (manuscript) of the article.

- Writing (Review & Editing). Making significant changes, additions to the article.

For example:

Authors' contribution: Name, Surname – conceptualization, methodology; Name, Surname – software, formal analysis; Name, Surname – data validation, writing (original draft); Name, Surname – writing (review and editing).

  1. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS, SOURCES OF FUNDING. Mention all individuals who contributed significantly to the research but are not co-authors: those who coordinated the research activities and provided resources (research materials, reagents, laboratory samples, animals, instruments, computing resources, or other analytical tools). Please specify all funding sources. Recommended format: “This work was supported by the Medical Research Council (grant number xxxx).”

ATTENTION! If there was no funding, there is no need to write anything.

  1. LIST OF REFERENCES

Bibliographic entries in the list of references are presented according to the APA citation style (7th Ed., https://www.grafiati.com/uk/). Sources in the list of used references are not numbered and are arranged alphabetically. For each source, the DOI (if available) should be provided.

In the article written in ENGLISH, there is ONE list of used sources — References — in which the bibliographic description of sources not in Roman script, such as Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, etc., is provided in English translation. At the end of each bibliographic entry, the language of the source should be indicated in square brackets in English – [in Ukrainian], [in Chinese], etc. – and the bibliographic entry in the original language should be added in square brackets. For example:

Zhenchenko, M. (2019). Digital transformation publishing industry. Zhnets [in Ukrainian]. [Женченко, М. (2019). Цифрові трансформації видавничої галузі. Жнець]. http://doi.org/10.1007/978-90-481-2473-2

In the article written in UKRAINIAN, there are TWO lists of used sources:

  1. The list of sources in the original language (bibliographic entries are provided according to the APA style reference).
  2. References in ENGLISH (bibliographic entries are provided according to the APA style reference).

In the References, the bibliographic description of sources not in Roman script (Cyrillic, Arabic, Chinese, etc.) is presented in English translation, and the language of the source should be indicated at the end of each bibliographic entry in square brackets in English: [in Ukrainian], [in Chinese], etc. Sources written in Latin script, such as Polish, German, Spanish, etc., remain WITHOUT TRANSLATION!!! [in Polish] is not needed since that is already in Latin letters!

For example:

Zhenchenko, M. (2019). Digital transformation publishing industry. Zhnets [in Ukrainian]. http://doi.org/10.1007/978-90-481-2473-2

Bartmiński, J. (2006). Językowe podstawy obrazu świata. Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej. http://doi.org/10.1007/978-90-481-2473-2

FORMAT FOR CITING SOURCES IN TEXT – In-text citations are presented in parentheses indicating:

the author's surname (if there is one author) or the first words of the title of the work (for publications without authors), followed by a comma and the year of publication, and, if necessary, followed by a comma and the page numbers after the abbreviation "с." (in Ukrainian) or "p." (in English). The title of the work can be abbreviated, and omitted words should be denoted by the symbol "three dots":

(Freeberg, 2019), (Freeberg, 2019, p. 147), (Freeberg, 2019, pp. 56–57), (Наукова спадщина…, 2017, с. 45), (Проблеми типологічної … лексикології, 2018, с. 184–185);

  • Surnames of all co-authors (if there are no more than three), year of publication:

(Cornell, & Harlow, 2003), (Cornell, & Harlow, 2003, р. 200), (Dormus, Brown, & Bloom, 2013);

  • Surnames of only the first co-author (if there are more than three authors), the abbreviation "et al." or "and others," year of publication):

(Grady et al., 2019), (Назаренко та ін., 2022);

  • Surnames and initials of the authors, year of publication (if the article cites works by authors with the same surname published in the same year):

(Reinberg, Т., 2005);

  • Surnames of the authors, year of publication of the first work, year of publication of the subsequent work (if the article cites works by the same author published in different years, the author's surname is not repeated):

(Gibson, 2007, p. 115; 2010, pp. 73–75);

  • surnames of the author, year of publication, lowercase Latin letter after the year of publication (if the article cites works by the same author published in the same year): (Gibson, 2005a; 2005b; 2005c);
  • Indicate the number or title (if there is no number) of the part of the electronic source (volume, part, section, etc.) following a comma after the year of publication, if the pages are unnumbered: (Brown, 2017, vol. 2). References to multiple sources at once should be presented in alphabetical order by the first letter of the surname of each source's author or the title of the work for publications without an author, separated by semicolons. For example, researchers studied a particular issue:

(Freeberg, 2019; Grady et al., 2019).

The main part of the citations in the publication should be based on authoritative sources from the last 5–7 years. The bibliography should contain at least 30% of articles published in reputable journals indexed in the scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science. Self-citations should not exceed 15% of the total number of cited sources.
