Abstract

A stress and strain analysis by Finite Element Method (FEM) has been carried out during the portal section excavation for the Sleme Tunnel right tube. A comparison has been made of 2D and 3D model results with on-site measurement results for tunnel convergence and ground surface settlement. Multistage excavations with pipe roof support of the working face were modelled. The calculation model has shown that safe and cost-efficient excavation technology had been applied in the case under consideration.
